My All Time, Favourite Holiday Pictures.

In this post, I thought I would share some of my favourite photos I have taken on my travels. I love each of them so much, and they’ve all made their way into my scrapbook, and many have been screensavers over the years. When it comes to each of these pictures, many were taken on a whim, and it was only later that I fell in love with them. Whenever I look at them, I never fail to smile. Enjoy.

This picture of the Statue of Liberty was one of those pictures I thought I’d look at and delete later, but I love it. I was stood on the edge of the island looking back at Manhattan. When I turned around I  saw the statue peeking through the trees.

Looking across the water to Alcatraz and San Francisco from Angel Island.
Of course, going to San Franciso, I knew I had to visit Alcatraz. You visit by boat, and I would highly recommended a bout tour that also takes in Angel Island. This was a place I only found out about through my geography degree, and I’m glad I found out. Angel Island is the Ellis Island of the west. It’s an island full of history, and worth including on your trip.

This is one of my all time favourites! It’s also one of those photos that doesn’t tell you how I got it. This picture, looking down on Verona, was taken with my camera pressed through a gap in a chain link fence.

The long avenue at Wormsloe Plantation.
The quality of this picture doesn’t do it justice at this size. On a canvas in my kitchen, it looks amazing. Off in the distance, with pure luck of when I took the picture, it looks as though there’s a vintage car driving towards me. In fact, it’s a trick of the light, and is nothing exciting at all, just a modern day SUV.

The Roosevelt Island cable car.
It took until my sixth trip to New York to discover this little gem. The trip takes around 5mins tops to cross the river, but as it only costs a swipe of your metro card, this is one of those off the beaten track things to do in Manhattan, and gives you some wonderful views of the city.

The Colosseum, Rome.
This photo was taken from off the main track. My brother was having a photo with guys dressed up as gladiators, while I was taking in this beautiful view.

This photo just screams Venice.
This was taken from the water bus as we were about to head up the Grand Canal.

Goddess and the Baker, Chicago.
I waited for this shot. I could hear the train approaching, so I held off until I saw it appearing in the window. The reflection of the train behind me on the overhead tracks, and the bright lights from inside the cafe makes this one of my favourite photos from that trip.

Portland Head Light.
Probably the most photographed light house; and here’s another photo.

The walkway to Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in Acadia National Park.
This is just the steps down to see the lighthouse above the rocks, but this was my first day in Acadia, and I had no idea just how much the place was going to take my breath away with its beauty.

I fell in love with doors and door handles in Malta.
This one located in Mdina, was my favourite.

Acadia National Park.
This is my all time favourite photo. When I look at this picture, and I do a lot as it’s the screensaver on my iPad, it takes me right back to that day in Acadia. This was a photo based on a mistake, but a fun mistake. This was the route I took to Thunder Hole. Yes, the main route is down steps, but I crossed the road a little early, and headed down this way. It was rocky, and narrow, and my inner mountain goat came out, but i enjoyed it. It might not be the most common route, but sometimes, it’s good to get off the beaten track sometimes.

I hope you enjoyed scrolling through these photos, and I’ll see you next time 💕
